In 2021, we pointed our webcam at the osprey platform to observe activity in their summer nest. In 2022, we switched to an eagle nest located high in a cottonwood tree. At one point, we had eagles nesting here who fledged several eaglets. Then geese took over the nest, creating their own waterfowl programming. We’ve heard from many people over the years who appreciate the viewing opportunity provided by our webcam.

Thanks to the help of a generous donation, we have relocated the video equipment to broadcast live from Cattail Creek, just upstream from the confluence with the Ruby River. This stream underwent a major restoration project in 2024 (funded by valued donors and grants) and we’re already seeing fish using the stream as forage and spawning habitat.

If you enjoy watching the live webcam activity, consider making a donation to Ruby Habitat Foundation.   These cameras are expensive, the installation is complicated, and the streaming service costs money.  We thank you in advance!

If you need to hire experts to help you with similar projects on your own property, consider contacting Ranch Resources, located in Sheridan, MT.  We employ them for everything from land stewardship questions to questions about our heritage apple orchard to installing live-streaming webcams.  They are nothing short of wizards.

Should you have questions or comments, feel free to direct them to our Programs Director, Sunni Heikes Bodogaard.
