UPDATE: As of October 9, 2019, our webcam over the nest is temporarily off-line due to hunting season….no sense in risking the solar panels to a stray bullet!.
Thanks to the generosity of one of our donors, we secured the funding to set up this “nest cam”….we have high hopes that this educational tool will prove both useful and entertaining to learners and virtual visitors to the Woodson Ranch alike.
For the past 2 years, the nest was occupied by a pair of Bald Eagles. In 2017 and 2018, the eagles were displaced by a pair of Canada Geese. You can watch the geese jumping out of the nest on our Facebook post here.
While we have entertained thousands of virtual visitors with our Goose Cam….we would prefer something a little more, well, carnivorous. To that end, we are currently planning to install an Osprey platform somewhere on the ranch, and if we obtain adequate donations to this cause, we’ll place a streaming camera above that platform as well. Stay tuned!
And if you’d like to support the concept of unobtrusive observation of wildlife, we are in need of financial support for the Osprey camera. The total cost of an off-the-grid, 24/7, all-weather-conditions camera is about $15,000. Contact Dave Delisi if you are interested in supporting this project.
